Environmental Commitment & CSR
Our region around La Rochelle is a true treasure: the Atlantic Ocean, pristine islands, the Poitevin Marshes, marine biodiversity… We are the first to benefit from these gifts, and as such, we bear the primary responsibility for them. At Cosy Hotels, environmental protection isn’t just lip service: it’s a concrete, measured, and ever-evolving commitment.
The Masq Hotel **** and the Saint-Nicolas **** are both Green Key certified, an international recognition of the environmental commitment of tourist accommodations. To take this a step further, the Masq Hotel conducted its Carbon Footprint Assessment in 2023 in partnership with BPI and the La Rochelle Carbon Cooperative, and our hotel group contributed to the funding of an orchard in Longèves to sequester 30 metric tons of CO₂ equivalent over 30 years.
In addition, we consistently prioritize local suppliers and service providers—jams from Île de Ré, craft beers, and locally sourced wines—because supporting the local economy in La Rochelle is also a way of honoring our region.
On the ground, we’re taking a wide range of concrete actions: LED lighting, eco-friendly products, electric vehicle charging stations, bike-sharing programs, birdhouses and lizard shelters in partnership with Nat’H, and beehives on our rooftops in collaboration with the nonprofit Les Ailes de la vie. Our organic waste is collected and turned into compost by Altergaïa—6,016 kg recycled in two years. We clean beaches with the Surfrider Foundation, the Old Port with Echo-Mer, recycle our pillows with La Grande Collecte, and donate a portion of our annual revenue to these three organizations through our Ocean Lovers campaign, held on Valentine’s Day.

We participate in job fairs and career events—including the Umih event in March 2025—are expanding our internship and work-study programs, and maintain active partnerships with the Lycée Hôtelier de La Rochelle, CIPECMA, Excelia, the IAE, and Ifrep. Some of our former work-study students have gone on to become team managers—and we are proud of them.
Our roots in the La Rochelle community go far beyond the hotel industry. We support local cultural life: La Sirène, the La Rochelle Film Festival (FEMA), Francofolies and Chantiers des Francofolies, the Adventure Film Festival, the Maritime Festivals, Terres et Lettres Festival, Boire la Tasse… All these events contribute to the richness and reputation of our city, and we support them with enthusiasm.
