Sports trip

La Rochelle, an active and athletic city

La Rochelle is an athletic city, as attested by its “Ville active et sportive” label, renewed in 2019 and awarded for three years. This distinction highlights sports initiatives and the promotion of physical activity that is accessible to the greatest number of people.

With a large number of sports events that take place throughout the year, including the “Sarabande des filles” women's running event, the marathon and the triathlon, the fame of La Rochelle as an athletic city can equally be attributed to the numerous sports clubs in town.

Among these clubs, some have now reached a high level of competition, as demonstrated by the club Aunis Handball La Rochelle-Périgny, which is now a reference within the French Handball Federation as one of the most important both in terms of level of play and membership.

Stade Rochelais and Rupella Basket 17 are the city’s two main sports icons and share the values of engagement and solidarity.  In 2018, they were therefore merged to make way for the Stade Rochelais Rupella.

The Cosy Hotels group shares the sporting values of the city of La Rochelle and every year renews its partnership with the rugby team Stade Rochelais in order to have sporting and friendly exchanges with its clients and partners.
